IMPORTANT:

Immediate Squad Placements Update

Background:

We are making a small but important adjustment to how Tune Table Tennis squad placements take effect after qualification tournaments.

In previous years, squad changes took effect in the new term after a qualification tournament. However, since the tournament was always at the end of each term, this meant that players moved up or down immediately the following week as that was when the next term started.

This year, the qualification tournaments are moved earlier in the term to ensure more players can participate.

However, this has unintentionally created an issue:

  • Players who qualify for a higher or lower squad now have to stay in their current squad for the rest of the term, potentially up to 8 weeks or more, even if their recent results prove they should move.

  • This means that our squads will not accurately reflect each player's current skill level during the term.

What is changing?

To ensure fair and up-to-date placements, Tune Table Tennis squad changes will now take effect immediately after each qualification tournament within the same term, rather than being delayed until the next term.

This means:

βœ” If a player qualifies for a higher squad, they will move up immediately.
βœ” If a player needs more development, they will move down immediately.

πŸ’‘ Important:

While it might feel like squad movements are happening sooner, this is actually the same process as last yearβ€” which was that placements always took effect immediately after the end of each qualification tournament.

The only difference is that changes now take place during the term instead of at the end, as we’ve moved the qualification earlier to allow everyone to participate, since many were previously away during the holiday periods.

This helps make sure that each squad reflects the most accurate level of play, while still keeping movements immediate, just as they were before.

Why are we making this adjustment?

βœ” Fair and accurate placements: players will be placed in squads that best reflect their current level.

βœ” Better competition – squads will be balanced, competitive, and updated based on current performance.

βœ” Stronger player development – those who improve quickly can move up sooner, and those who need more time won’t be stuck in a squad where they struggle.

What about term fees?

We understand that players have already paid for the full term, so any necessary fee adjustments will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

If a player moves up or down, we will finalise any payment changes before their next session in the new squad, ensuring a smooth transition without delays.

When does this take effect?

This change takes effect immediately, starting Saturday, 15th March 2025.
